Missouri State Women's Soccer Team Member
2019 - present
Although this is not a relevant "job" position in terms of working in a newsroom, being a collegiate student-athlete has taught me many skills that will help in my career field. Skills like time-management, hitting deadlines, how to be a leader, work with a team/others, and how to take and follow directions have all been engrained in me as a student-athlete.

Ozarks News Brief
This course was a direct simulation of a live news station. We created weekly, live news broadcasts. I now have experience as an anchor, producer, floor director and video manager. During my time on Ozarks News Brief, I was also able to sharpen my broadcast writing skills for quick turn-arounds.

Broadcast Performance

In this class, I was able to perfect on my on-air performances as a reporter. Also, I had the opportunity to have experience with performing a live shot as well.

Electronic News Gathering
This course allowed me to really experience the realities of being a reporter. Pitching story ideas, writing/planning a story, building sequences, finding and interviewing sources, filming b-roll, interviews and stand-ups, and editing an entire package on a deadline are just some of the experiences I was able to gain from this class.
News Reporting and Writing

Taking this class allowed me to refine my traditional news-writing skills. I was able to work on the finding a story, pitching it, contacting and interviewing sources, and writing a final piece. While the stories written for were meant only for class purposes, one of my pieces was picked up by The Standard - MSU Newspaper - for publication.
